Washington State University Extension Regional Small Farms Program will present a workshop on caring for apple and pear trees Aug. 9 in Jefferson County.

Washington State University Extension Regional Small Farms Program will present a workshop on caring for apple and pear trees Aug. 9 in Jefferson County.


An orchard manager in Jefferson County, Wash., will be the speaker at a workshop in August on pruning and irrigating apple and pear trees.

Cameron Denning of Finnriver Farm and Orchard in Chimacum will talk about testing soils, managing water and summer pruning to maximize fruit production. The workshop is being put on by the Washington State University Extension Regional Small Farms Program.

The workshop will be 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 9 at Finnriver Farm, 124 Center Road, Chimacum.

The cost is $25. Participants must register in advance. Tickets are available at summerfruit.brownpapertickets.com.
